    With a focus on fluency, the General English course allows you to improve your English and gain a practical understanding of the language and how to use it. You will focus on the 4 skills: reading, writing, speaking and listening, in order to improve your level and maximise your ability to use English.

    We help you to develop your English systems (grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation) and skills (reading, writing, speaking and listening), while also building the learning skills that will keep you improving and give you the confidence to use that knowledge in real-life.

    Intensive language learning

    This course builds your General English skills, and then focuses on the language you will need in the workplace. Through intensive practice in the four skills, you will gain the means to express yourself effectively in English. So in the future, whether you want to write a report or give a presentation, you can do so with fluency, accuracy and confidence.

    Professional focus
    As English is the global language of business, politics, international relations, culture and entertainment, this course will develop your linguistic skills and help towards building a career in an international context.

    You will develop your language skills within such areas as:

    This Special Focus Programme combines 20 lessons of General English with 10 lessons focused on language study inspired by your destination, for a complete intensive experience that is tailored to you and your personal reasons for learning.

Accommodations

    Homestay

    From : 16 years
    Time in transit : 40-60 minutes by public transport
    Staying with a local family is both exciting and rewarding. Host families provide the best insight into how an New Zealander family leads their life. This interaction with a family helps students communicate better, faster and allows them to pick up words and nuances used in daily situations. There is no typical homestay in Auckland. Some homes are single standing homes, apartments or multifamily homes. It's a great chance to meet native Auckland residents and share their way of life.

    Students are placed in a single room. It is important that rooms and living areas are kept neat and tidy. Students also have access to a shared bathroom.

    Bed linen and towels are provided by the host family. Students laundry may be included with the host’s own laundry on a weekly basis, or you may like to do your own laundry. You can talk to your hosts and decide on the most suitable arrangement.

    We provide a choice of two residents: Standard YWCA Residence and Standard Empire Apartments.

    Standard YWCA Residence
    The YWCA is a hostel. The building is designated for the accommodation of students and also tourists. It is a social accommodation where students have their own bedroom with a shared shower and toilet on the same floor. 3 floors are exclusive to females. Cooking equipment and utensils are provided. Short stay guests are provided with plates/cups etc. Long-term guests are required to purchase their own. There is a bargain department store a 5-minute walk from the residence. Bed sheets are provided, and students can exchange for fresh bed sheets once a week at reception.

    Standard Empire Apartments
    This is a modern, practical and well-located student accommodation with views of the city and harbour, and it's a short walk to Queen Street. Amenities include café, coin-operated laundry, high speed Wifi throughout the building and private phone (additional charges apply), 24/7 on-site management and security monitoring.
