All AMAUTA teachers are native Spanish speakers and professionals who have qualified under the AMAUTA teachers' course and participate in continuing education during their employment. AMAUTA Spanish School is recognized by the Ministry of Education of Peru and holds certifications for Bildungsurlaub (educational leave) in Germany and CSN in Sweden. The school follows the curriculum of the Instituto Cervantes and the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), offering four main levels: Beginner (A1-A2), Intermediate (B1), Advanced (B2), and Superior (C1-C2). Upon completing a course, students receive a certificate detailing their Spanish level and the number of hours studied, with an option for a graded certificate through a final exam.
The AMAUTA school in Cusco is located in a beautiful colonial building featuring big, brightly lit classrooms, many with traditional blue balconies overlooking San Augustin Street and the cupola of Santo Domingo Church. Facilities include eight classrooms, four open spaces for classes, a common room with a cafe for students to relax, a small kitchen, a beautiful sunny courtyard with a seating area, and a separate office for the travel agency Dos Manos that organizes excursions. The school also houses the AMAUTA Student Residence within the same building, as well as a large room with a high ceiling for meetings and student activities. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the school.

General Spanish - 20 lessons per week

Combined Spanish - 25 lessons per week
The Combined Spanish program offers 25 lessons per week, blending 20 group lessons with 5 individual lessons. This format allows students to progress quickly through group interaction while addressing specific personal goals during one-on-one sessions with their teacher. The combination is ideal for those who want both the social dynamics of a small group and the focused attention of private instruction
Combined Spanish - 30 lessons per week
The Combined Spanish program with 30 lessons per week includes 20 group lessons plus 10 individual lessons, offering maximum flexibility and accelerated progress. The group sessions build general communication skills, while the private lessons are tailored to the student's specific needs, such as grammar refinement, professional vocabulary, or exam preparation. This intensive format is recommended for students who want to achieve significant results in a short period of time.
Individual Spanish - 10 lessons per week
The Individual Spanish program with 10 lessons per week provides one-on-one instruction designed to meet the student's unique goals, pace, and learning style. Individual Spanish - 20 lessons per week

With four hours of private instruction daily, topics are tailored precisely to the student's needs, whether preparing for a DELE exam, improving professional Spanish, or mastering grammar and pronunciation. General Spanish (55+) - 20 lessons per week
The Spanish for 55+ course is specially designed for mature learners who want to study Spanish in a relaxed, age-appropriate environment. The program includes 20 group lessons per week, with a maximum of 6 students per group, ensuring a comfortable pace and personalized attention. Class activities often extend beyond the classroom to include visits to local markets, museums, schools, and artisans' fairs, offering a rich cultural experience tailored to the interests of students over 55. DELE exam preparation - 30 lessons per week
The DELE exam preparation course offers 30 intensive lessons per week, focused entirely on helping students successfully obtain the official Diploma of Spanish as a Foreign Language (DELE). The program includes 20 group lessons and 10 individual lessons, allowing for comprehensive coverage of all exam components: reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Students work with experienced instructors using real exam materials and practice tests, learning the specific strategies needed to pass each level from A1 to C2. This intensive format is designed for students who need to achieve certification for academic or professional purposes.
Housing
Host Family (single room, half board)
This classic immersion option places you in a private single room within a carefully selected local Peruvian home. You will share common areas like the living room and bathroom with the family and possibly other students, and your stay includes two meals (breakfast and lunch or dinner) daily. Living with a host family is the best way to practice your Spanish around the clock and experience authentic Peruvian culture firsthand.
Host Family (double room, half board)
Traveling with a partner or friend? The double room option allows two students to share a room while still enjoying all the benefits of a homestay. Like the single room option, your stay includes two daily meals (half board) and the immersive experience of living with a local family.

For students seeking extra comfort and convenience, the "Plus" host family package is an excellent choice. It includes everything in the standard stay - a private single room and half board - but adds a weekly laundry service (arranged through AMAUTA) and a room that is typically larger and located in a more comfortable home. These families often live in quieter residential neighborhoods, providing a peaceful retreat after classes.

Student Residence Cusco (single room)
The AMAUTA student residence is a fantastic option for independent students who want to live and socialize with peers from around the world. Located in the same building as the school, you will have a private single room and share common bathrooms, a communal kitchen, a living room, and a terrace with other students. This option does not include meals, giving you the flexibility to cook for yourself or explore Cusco's many restaurants.
Student Residence Cusco (double room)
For those who prefer company, the residence offers shared double/twin rooms, which are an economical way to stay close to the school. Like the single rooms, these come with access to shared bathrooms, a communal kitchen, and social common areas. No meals are included, making it a flexible and budget-friendly option for students who want to be at the center of student life at AMAUTA.
