Since 2016, TANDEM have also been a certified provider of funding for continuing vocational education and training in accordance with SGB III and have been successfully running language courses for the Employment Agency and Job Centre ever since.
Furthermore, TANDEM is certified by CSN (Centrala studiestödsnämden) in Sweden for students who are planning on studying German as a foreign language abroad.
In addition, school is regularly inspected and certified under the German AZAV. And school also an accredited language examination and competence centre for both the TELC and the TestDaF exams.
The classrooms at TANDEM are furnished with comfortable desks and sophisticated teaching aids to make learning more enjoyable. In order to facilitate interesting and fruitful classes, the school makes use of a number of teaching tools, such as interactive whiteboards and audiovisual equipment.
Courses
Intensive German - 20 lessons per week
Twenty lessons are taught each week in intensive courses. They successfully and swiftly introduce you to German language and culture. You will receive instruction from committed and skilled language instructors in an engaging and conversational manner. You will successfully and intensively practice the four language skills of speaking, writing, listening, reading, and grammar with our individualized support and small study groups. You will be using a level-appropriate textbook that has been carefully chosen, together with current teaching resources.
One level at TANDEM Hamburg takes 8 weeks of study.

Individual German - 10 lessons per week

Exam Preparation (telc B1) - 16 lessons
All of the components of the telc B1 test will be covered in this course, along with the evaluation standards. You will learn techniques and get advice on how to handle the exam's timing and substance effectively. You will receive feedback and corrections on a text you have produced, as well as exercises for every section of the telc B1 exam. Additionally, you will replicate the oral test tasks in a realistic way.
- 4 days of 4 lessons each
- 16 lessons of 45 min
- Monday - Thursday from 2:00 - 5:15 p.m.
- Recommended requirements: completed B1
To pass the exam, it is recommended that you have attended between 480 and 600 hours of German lessons.
Exam Preparation (telc C1) - 20 lessons per week
This course will teach you about the assessment criteria and provide you a general understanding of all the components of the telc C1 Hochschule test.
You will acquire strategies and receive tips on how to cope well with the exam in terms of timing and content. Each section of the telc C1 test will contain tasks for you to do, and you will get comments and corrections on a text you have produced. Additionally, you will realistically model the oral exam problems.

- 40 lessons of 45 min
- Monday - Thursday from 2:00 - 5:15 p.m.
- Recommended requirements: completed C1
Housing
Private accommodation (single room, self-catering)

Welcoming and understanding landlords are delighted to host visitors from all over the world, whether you are traveling alone or with a family.
The furnishings are functional but cosy, towels are provided, and the washing machine can be used by arrangement. Bathroom and kitchen are shared with the landlords.
In this type of accommodation, no meals are provided, so students will need to take care of their own dining needs.
If you wish to stay in Hamburg for longer than three months, you are required to register your Hamburg accommodation address at the Residents' Registration Office (Einwohnermeldeamt). In Hamburg, the customer centres of the individual districts are in charge of this. In this case, we recommend that you organise your own accommodation. Unfortunately, we only have a few landlords who allow you to register at their address.
